Jacki Crazy challenge - 146 km

By Lindsey Langham

I’m fundraising for the RNLI to help power brave lifesavers to the rescue

On the 2nd January 2026 tragedy struck in the sea at Withernsea, East Yorkshire.    The RNLI and other emergency services tried in vain to locate and save all 3 people who got into difficulty with no thoughts for their own safety.  Residents supported where they could, offering warm shelter and hot drinks.

2 employees of EATON MEDC in Sutton in Ashfield were both affected so much by this event – Jacki Johnson (16 years service) was a personal friend of one person who sadly lost their life through their mutual love of running, Lindsey Langham (25 years service) sister and father live in Withernsea, whilst she lives near Filey, North Yorkshire  so together we came up with a plan to raise money for Withernsea RNLI  as they never gave up until the recovery of all 3 people was completed.

Jacki is very bravely or stupidly!! going to run 146 km in 7 days – 21km per day (13 miles) as to date the RNLI have saved 146,000 lives.   Lindsey will oversee admin, fundraising and general support for Jacki – we plan to start on Sunday  6th September, finishing on Saturday 12th September in Withernsea.

Filey beach race

Tuesday 16th Jun
A first for me. Never have I ever ran a race on a beach. It was beautiful 😍 🤩 the sea was lovely and calm with the sun beaming down. Then the wind came and the sea moved, a harsh reminder that the sea 🌊 is a changeable beast. Tears were shed, an emotional place. RIP 3 Angels at Withernsea, you're the reason for this event.

Endurance training

Friday 12th Jun
Long and slow run today. 10 miles in my legs. Next week I start doubling up with back 2 back runs 🏃‍♀️ endurance isn't about speed, its stamina. Low heart rate, steady rhythmic breathing.
