I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

WE DID IT!

Monday 10th Jun
We made it ... we walked at least 1 mile every day, come rain, shine, busy, quiet, school days and holidays.  I'm so proud of Victoria & Thomas for keeping going every day.  In total we walked 150 miles between us.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored us - our team page has stopped working, but we can see we got to £423 - amazing.

Half way through - Friday 17th

Friday 17th May
We are just over half way, walking our 1 mile every day.  So far we have walked 75 miles between us - which is definitely more than the 51 (17 days x 1 mile) that we were expecting. The actual walk of 1 mile is pretty easy for each of us, but its the need to do it each day which is the challenge - fitting it in amongst everything else or when its raining.
But it reminds us that the lifeboat volunteers do this too - they fit in their commitments to emergency call outs and the extensive training alongside their daily lives of work and family.

Week 2 of walking

Saturday 11th May
We've had another busy week but kept going. 1 mile before school each day for the children (and an extra mile back home for me). And done 2 miles last Sunday (all of us) and today for Victoria and me. Victoria is now nearly asleep on the sofa, as this was on top of an hour of dancing and an hour of climbing 😁
