Luke's London Marathon Swims 2026

A Little Splish Splash to Raise Some Cash

I was lucky enough to gain a ballot entry into the 2026 London Marathon Swim event being held at the London Aquatics Centre (LAC) in Stratford (the home of the aquatic events during the London 2012 Olympics) on Sunday 1st November.

For those that aren't aware a Marathon Swim in 10km (6.2 miles) which is 400 lengths of a regular 25m swimming pool. The LAC is a 50m pool so only 200 lengths which makes it sound less daunting!

As I had a ballot entry there was no requirement to fundraise for charity but taking on such a challenge I thought it was only right to attempt to raise some money. I picked the RNLI as this was a charity that my late grandad used to donate and collect pin badges from whenever he passed a lifeboat station. This is something he passed on to me and I have a growing collection of lifeboat station specific pin badges. With the event being water based it only seemed fitting to choose the RNLI for my fundraising - especially with the timing of their Float to Live campaign.
