I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

Cooper and I have recently taken on our own personal challenge to complete the Couch to 5k Program.

Whilst we're clocking up the kilometres doing this I thought we might as well convert it to miles and raise some money for a good cause and put it towards building some more Shannons for Joanne, Cooper and Me to go and visit!

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

Day 11

Sunday 11th May
Sunday rest day - but did a short two mile run, but at 17 degrees its the hottest I've ever run in and I did not enjoy it!

Day 10

Sunday 11th May
Completed my last run of week 7 and a 25 minutes run!

Much bigger week next week as it goes up to 28!

Day 9

Friday 9th May
Full day of walking today, no running to rest.

25 minute run and completion of week 7 tomorrow

Day 8

Thursday 8th May
Week 7 Run 2 Complete and it's another 25 minutes run in the bag. One more this week and we've completed week 7 but tomorrow is a walking day only as I'm nursing a knee that is giving me some discomfort

Day 7

Wednesday 7th May
Rest day today, so just a two mile run to earn a cheeky Nando's later as its been years since we last went, and its reward for enduring Primark!

Day 6

Tuesday 6th May
Back to it today with a 25 minutes run for Week 7 Run 1 of C25K. This one was hard work after a weekend of walking and indulgence but we didn't stop and we powered through, albeit a little slower than usual.

Followed this up with a brief walk this evening for sniffs and Cooper found another tennis ball from the hedges

Day 5

Tuesday 6th May
Leisurely day spent walking Swanage, a visit to Peveril Point and 13-13 in the boat house as well as spending up in the RNLI shop in the town too.

Back to running this week

Day 4

Sunday 4th May
May the 4th be with you!

Five mile wander from our campsite today, around Corfe and up a hill and back down to Norden Farm

Day 3

Saturday 3rd May
No running today - too many hill in Dorset!

Plenty of walking, visited Poole’s two lifeboat stations, the current one and the old one. We also tried to visit the college but due to a protest today from people who only think the RNLI should save some lives (not all) it was closed

Day 2

Friday 2nd May
Away for the weekend today and a bit achy after the 25 minute run yesterday, I decided to just walk the dog this morning...BUT......time is tight as I've got lots to do, so in the end I ran it - precisely two miles in the bag

Day 1

Friday 2nd May
Today we completed Week 6 Run 3 of Couch to 5K (C25K) - our first 25 minutes straight of running, achieving 2.3 miles and a pace of 10:55 per mile.

Later this evening, a short walk to round off the day covering a little over a mile
