Taking on the Reindeer Run challenge for RNLI lifesavers
RNLI supporters around the country will be donning their antlers and strapping up their hooves to run 24 miles – all to help keep RNLI volunteers safe this winter.
Freezing seas, numbing winds and sub-zero temperatures – would you fancy launching into that aboard a lifeboat? RNLI crews will be doing just that, battling the elements this winter to continue their mission to save every one.
Reindeer Runners will be raising money so they have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

Running for Rudolf
Wednesday 21st OctRUN, RUDOLPH, RUN! (Well… Walk, Rudolph, Walk!) 🌊🛟
Apparently, I haven’t quite learnt my lesson when it comes to signing up for questionable physical challenges!
This December, I’ll be taking on the RNLI Reindeer Run Challenge 24 miles throughout December, raising money for the incredible men and women who volunteer to save lives at sea.
Now, a small confession… I haven’t run properly in 25 years! So while the word run might be a little ambitious, I’ll certainly be giving it my best shot. There may be some jogging, a fair amount of walking, and quite possibly the occasional moment of questioning my life choices. But every mile will count! 😂
❤️ This one means a great deal to me personally.
Christmas always makes me think a lot more about the importance of helping others, even complete strangers, whenever we can.
And that’s exactly what the RNLI represents.
🌊 Think about this for a moment…
While most of us are tucked up at home, enjoying Christmas with our families, there are ordinary people prepared to leave their own loved ones at a moment’s notice, head out into freezing seas and dangerous conditions, and risk their lives to save someone they’ve never met.
They don’t ask who you are, where you’ve come from or why you need help.
They simply go.
What makes this even more extraordinary is that the RNLI receives virtually no government funding and relies overwhelmingly on the generosity of the public to keep its lifesaving service running.
These volunteers give their time freely, but the lifeboats, equipment and training that keep them safe cost money.
24 miles. One for every hour these remarkable people are on call, 365 days a year- including Christmas Day.
I’m not going to break any land-speed records. In fact, there’s a reasonable chance Rudolph will have finished his deliveries before I’ve finished my miles!
But if a few blisters, some aching legs and a slightly undignified attempt at running can help support the people who bring others home safely to their families, then it’s worth every step.
🙏 So I’m asking for a little help.
If you can spare a few pounds, however small, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps give these extraordinary volunteers the equipment and support they need to keep saving lives.
And if donating isn’t possible, simply sharing this post would mean a great deal.
Because everyone deserves the chance to make it home for Christmas. ❤️
Thank you for your support. Now, where did I put those running shoes? They’ve had 25 years to recover… I’m not sure I have 🎄🦌
