Artwork of the late Peter Dunmore Redshaw

I’m fundraising for the RNLI to help power brave lifesavers to the rescue

Every day, around the coasts of the UK and Ireland, RNLI volunteers are kitting up to answer desperate calls for help. But they can’t launch to the rescue without support. The RNLI relies on donations to fund the kit and training volunteers need to save lives at sea and return safely home. I’m fundraising to help them stay ready to rescue.   As a mariner Peter was passionate about the RNLI and the work they do.

Any funds realised from the sale of his art work and any other donations will be donated to the RNLI with a request that the Anstruther and Cullercoats lifeboats receive the majority share.

About Peter

Tuesday 8th Sep
As a mariner Peter was passionate about The RNLI and the work that they do.   Like his father and uncles before him Peter served in the Merchant Marine for several years on a regular run between Grangemouth and Baie Comeau, Québec.   In 1957 he was involved in the severe storm in the Atlantic that damaged his ship badly requiring a three week stopover in St. John’s  Newfoundland while the vessel was repaired.  Luckily there were no serious injuries among the crew. Upon his marriage  Peter left the sea and resumed his engineering career but never lost his love of all things nautical - knots, flags, charts, lighthouses and boats and ships of all kinds, from canoes and fishing boats, Clyde puffers and passenger cruise ships. You will see models of several of these vessels at the Art Exhibition.   Peter’s famous knotted key fobs and zip pulls can be found all over the world given as gifts or sold for charity.
