31 Miles for Mayday – Why This Means So Much to Me

Sunday 5th Apr
This May, I’m taking on a challenge that’s both physical and deeply personal: walking and running 31 miles for Mayday in support of the RNLI (the Royal National Lifeboat Institution).

On the surface, it might sound like just another fitness challenge—but for me, it’s so much more than that.

The RNLI has always been a part of my family’s story. Both my mamar and my Auntie Leanne have their names on a lifeboat, which is something I’ve grown up feeling incredibly proud of. But it’s not just about the names, it’s about what they represent.

When my mum was younger, she and her sisters would regularly visit the lifeboats with their own mum. It became a bit of a tradition—something simple, but meaningful. Over time, it turned into one of those special family memories that sticks. The kind that quietly shapes who you are without you even realising it.

I remember being a kid and my mum showing me the lifeboats, explaining what they do and why they matter. Even then, I could feel that it meant something to her and now, it means something to me too.

So when I thought about doing a fundraiser, this felt like the perfect fit.

The RNLI does incredible, life-saving work. Their crews are out there in all conditions, day and night, risking their lives to save others. And they do it largely through donations. That alone is reason enough to support them but for me, it’s also about honouring a piece of my family’s history.

This challenge is my way of giving back, of continuing that connection, and of doing something that I know would make my mum proud.

31 miles across May won’t be easy but it will be worth it.

If you’d like to support me, donate, or just follow along with the journey, I’d be so grateful. Every bit of support makes a difference not just to me, but to the lives the RNLI helps save every single day.

Thank you ❤️
