I’m fundraising for the RNLI to help power brave lifesavers to the rescue
On 11 July 2026 Amanda & I are taking part in an 3km swim from Finland to Sweden crossing not only from one country to another but crossing a time zone and the Arctic Circle! We leave Finland just after midnight, actually 12 July, and should arrive in Sweden before midnight on 11 July swimming downstream in the Torne River under the Midnight Sun.
As regular wild water swimmers we are well aware of the importance of the RNLI and want to raise valuable funds for this amazing charity. Every day, around the coasts of the UK and Ireland, RNLI volunteers are kitting up to answer desperate calls for help. But they can’t launch to the rescue without support. The RNLI relies on donations to fund the kit and training volunteers need to save lives at sea and return safely home. We are fundraising to help them stay ready to rescue.

Swimming the Arctic Circle under the Midnight Sun
Thursday 4th Jun On 11 July Amanda Jones & I will be swimming in the Torne River from Finland to Sweden, crossing the Arctic Circle, country border and time line. We Weill arrive in Sweden the day before we leave Finland! Doing this swim is a personal challenge for both of us and a great opportunity to raise money for the RNLI at the same time.
