I’m fundraising for the RNLI to help power brave lifesavers to the rescue
I have always wanted to raise money for a good cause, and the RNLI was the one charity my Grandad was truly passionate about. On December 25th 2026, it will be 11 years since he passed away, and I want to honour his memory by walking Dartmoor from North to South—and back again—in just two days. That is 31 gruelling miles a day.
My partner and I are tackling this massive 100km loop in the height of summer. While the longer days will help us finish, summer is also the absolute busiest time of year for the RNLI, when their volunteers are called out daily to save lives.
Grandad suffered in pain for a large portion of his life after being knocked off his motorbike, an accident that left him disabled. Yet, despite everything, he never grumbled. I want to take on this immense physical challenge to match his strength, raise vital funds during the charity's peak season, and help the RNLI give the gift of life to others in his name.
