How your support helped the RNLI in 2024

437 Lives saved

25,327 People aided by lifeboat crews and lifeguards

9,141 Lifeboat launches

I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

Raising funds for a worthy cause

Friday 17th Apr
As a sea kayaker, the RNLI are an organisation whose efforts I truly value and support - I see my monthly donation to them as akin to paying an insurance policy! What's significant is that they are not funded by any government. This enables them to maintain their independence while operating across national boundaries, helping those who need it most.

This May, myself and other members of Belfast Kayak Club will be joining in with their Mayday Mile challenge. The goal is to paddle 31 miles during the month of May. We are planning to complete all 31 miles across 4 paddles scheduled for each Tuesday during the month. I personally plan to log more than 31 miles, as I will also be making a 3-day trip to Schull, Co. Cork towards the end of May.

I hope you will consider donating or joining the fundraiser. You can walk, run, swim and maybe even parachute(!) the 31 mile goal.

Thank you to my Sponsors
