In loving memory of Bill Bunyan

By Sarah Anderson

I’m fundraising for the RNLI to help power brave lifesavers to the rescue

Please help us honour our devoted husband and Dad, Bill Bunyan.

The sea was a huge part of Bill's life, it brought him friendship, adventure and treasured memories which he loved to share. Bill's stories from his days as a senior engineer officer with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA), were always a highlight, even if you had heard them before. He had a lifelong respect for the water and for the people who watch over those who venture out onto it. Maybe this stemmed from having to escape a sinking car in Valleta Harbour or simply his complete inability to float - even with the assistance of life jackets and giant rubber rings. He was always, ironically, more comfortable on the sea than in it.

Our family holidays were regularly centered by the sea, spending precious family time together fishing, walking, surfing, shrimping, playing and BBQing on the beach - they were never quite complete without a trip to the local Lifeboat station.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) exists to make sure that anyone who gets into trouble at sea has someone coming to help. Their crews head out in all weathers, day or night, to keep sailors, fishermen, families and beachgoers safe — a reassurance he deeply valued.

In his memory, we’re inviting friends and family to support the RNLI so that future generations of seafarers can continue to enjoy the sea safely.

Your donation, of any size, will help fund lifesaving equipment, training and rescue missions.

Thank you for helping carry forward something that mattered to Bill — protecting those who answer the call of the sea.

Running the St Albans Half Mara

Wednesday 8th Apr
On 14th June, James and I will be running the St Albans Half Marathon in loving memory of our amazing Dad, fundraising for the RNLI.

Dad served as a Royal Fleet Auxiliary Officer and was a keen sea fisherman, he took us swimming and surfing in the sea on holidays and highly valued and respected the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, giving him peace of mind that they were there if we were ever to get in trouble at sea.

In his memory, please help us support the RNLI so that future generations of seafarers can continue to enjoy the sea safely.
