How your support helped the RNLI in 2024

437 Lives saved

25,327 People aided by lifeboat crews and lifeguards

9,141 Lifeboat launches

I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

Hello!

Sunday 29th Mar
Why the RNLI you may ask? Well apart from the amazing essential work they do keeping people safe on our coasts and in our waters around the country they were also the favourite charity of a very dear friend of mine who we sadly had to say goodbye to last summer.
Andrew has been on my mind almost daily since he "Went Home" last July (An old scouting term for someone no longer with us), more so recently since I collected my award for outstanding volunteering this month as he was the reason why I even got into scouting in the first place. For that I will be ever thankful (but don't be misled, it's certainly not an hour a week like I was promised!).
Whilst at his funeral I heard about how he absolutely adored the RNLI and if he was ever at the coast and he saw a lifeboat station he would always go over and start nattering with the crew or have a look around if he could. We even had a collection for the RNLI at the end.
I'm sat here this evening after seeing this challenge wondering if he visited the station at Whitby when we had our group camp at Commondale last May and it got me thinking that I would love to do something that would not only honour his name but also raise vital funds for a much needed charity.
I would really love it if I could get as many people as possible to join our team to try and raise £500 in May. You don't need to have known Andrew Hollings to join us, you don't even need to be a member of scouts or have a child in scouts. Enthusiasm for a great cause is all you need, walk, run, jog, cycle, swim or crawl it doesn't matter how you do it!
It'd be amazing to have as many on board as possible, look forward to having you onboard!

Thank you to my Sponsors
