My Updates

They say Robins are the spirit of a departed loved one coming to visit

Sunday 10th May
And given how surprisingly tame this little guy was its easy to believe. Especially as this park was where I attended my first ever group scout event way back in 2023! Who knows, perhaps Andrew came for a visit. I'd like to think so.

A Long walk with the Wee One

Sunday 10th May
Yesterday we had a long walk around town, Tilly was going to her friends house who lives up Raikes so we walked there to drop her off, after that me and Edward went to the park around the corner and made friends with a Robin. He was sat in a tree for a good 20 minutes just watching us and I was able to get some brilliant photos of him. He was the perfect subject, just standing there letting me fiddle with camera settings. After that we both walked home through the woods collecting interesting things and talking about all the different trees and how to recognise what each tree was called. All in all a lovely day with a surprising lack of complaints from young Edward about the fact he doesnt like to walk anywhere!

Day 4!

Monday 4th May
2nd run this evening, to be quite honest i didn't quite trust my legs last night as they still felt all jelly (and too be honest not much better today!) so settled for a 2 mile walk in the woods with the dog made all the more exciting with the loose lamb that I had to try and prevent from getting on the bypass!

This evening i went for my second jog of the month, it was hard I'm not gonna lie, the front of my thighs were protesting quite a bit and kept threatening to buckle! Anyway I did my 2 laps of greenacres and chatted to a bloke who said I was doing great and to keep it up as it was all for a great cause (it is!).

I was delighted to see last night that we have smashed our £500 team target which I am absolutely thrilled about, so thank you everyone who has donated so far, you are all superstars <3

Day 1 & 2

Saturday 2nd May
I didn't get chance yesterday to do my first run but I was still able to get a lot of miles walked! according to my phone fitness tracker I did 16987 steps which is roughly 8.16 miles!
Today I shall be jogging (very slowly!) a mile, which will be a huge step for me as I don't job or run as a rule lol! I am hoping though that by adding a jog to my day I might finally overcome this weight loss plateau that I seem to have found myself at for the past few months so fingers crossed!
I'll let you all know if I survive XD

Please donate if you can, we are already really close to our team goal of £500 and it would really mean so much to to both me and Netta if we could smash our goal (we'd even get a medal!).
Love to you all x

Hello!

Sunday 29th Mar
Why the RNLI you may ask? Well apart from the amazing essential work they do keeping people safe on our coasts and in our waters around the country they were also the favourite charity of a very dear friend of mine who we sadly had to say goodbye to last summer.
Andrew has been on my mind almost daily since he "Went Home" last July (An old scouting term for someone no longer with us), more so recently since I collected my award for outstanding volunteering this month as he was the reason why I even got into scouting in the first place. For that I will be ever thankful (but don't be misled, it's certainly not an hour a week like I was promised!).
Whilst at his funeral I heard about how he absolutely adored the RNLI and if he was ever at the coast and he saw a lifeboat station he would always go over and start nattering with the crew or have a look around if he could. We even had a collection for the RNLI at the end.
I'm sat here this evening after seeing this challenge wondering if he visited the station at Whitby when we had our group camp at Commondale last May and it got me thinking that I would love to do something that would not only honour his name but also raise vital funds for a much needed charity.
I would really love it if I could get as many people as possible to join our team to try and raise £500 in May. You don't need to have known Andrew Hollings to join us, you don't even need to be a member of scouts or have a child in scouts. Enthusiasm for a great cause is all you need, walk, run, jog, cycle, swim or crawl it doesn't matter how you do it!
It'd be amazing to have as many on board as possible, look forward to having you onboard!
