I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m taking part in the RNLI’s Mayday Mile.

Rather than covering a mile on the flat, I’ve decided to set myself a slightly different challenge.

For the whole of May, I’ll be climbing the Bin of Cullen every day - a short hill, but a steep and exposed one, rising sharply above the Moray Firth. It’s a climb I know well, but committing to it 31 days in a row, in all weathers, is my way of supporting the RNLI’s Mayday appeal.

If you’re able to donate - no matter how small - your support really will make a difference, and it will certainly help keep me motivated on the tougher days.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for any support you’re able to give. I’ll be sharing updates as the month goes on - and hopefully a few familiar views from the top of the Bin along the way.

Day 1 of 31 ✅ – Mayday Hill has officially begun

Thursday 30th Apr
That’s Day 1 of my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge done - or more accurately, Day 1 of climbing the Bin of Cullen every day for a month complete.

I’m starting today (30 April) rather than 1 May because I’ll be away at Slam Dunk Festival on 23 May, so I’m getting one in early.

It was so windy at the top today that I near lost my drone trying to get a decent photo!

On the way down, Nola decided that jumping into a bog was a fantastic idea, so I had to stop and rescue her!

Despite all that, the first climb is done and dusted.

I’m doing this in support of the RNLI Mayday Mile appeal. I’ve been a volunteer crew member for the RNLI for over 7 years, and this is my way of giving something back and raising money for the training, kit and equipment that help keep volunteer crews safe and ready to launch when the pager goes.

If anyone would like to sponsor me - no matter how small - it would be massively appreciated and will definitely help keep me motivated on the tougher days.
