Taking on the Reindeer Run Challenge for RNLI lifesavers

RNLI supporters around the country will be donning their antlers and strapping up their hooves to run 24 miles – all to help keep RNLI volunteers safe this winter.

Freezing seas, numbing winds and sub-zero temperatures – would you fancy launching into that aboard a lifeboat? RNLI crews will be doing just that, battling the elements this winter to continue their mission to save every one.

Reindeer Runners will be raising money so they have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

Support My Journey: Running My Longest Distance Yet – 17K!

Monday 16th Dec
I never thought I’d be saying this, but I just ran my longest distance ever—17K! What started as a simple way to stay active has grown into a passion that pushes me to new limits, and this milestone is proof of how far I’ve come. But this run wasn’t just about me—it’s about making every step count for a bigger purpose. I’m taking on this challenge to support the RNLI and with your help, we can make a real difference. Reaching 17K wasn’t easy. Around 12K, I hit a wall where my legs felt like lead and my mind started whispering, “Maybe this is enough.” But I pushed through, fueled by the support of my running group, thoughts of the people I’m running for, and the belief that we’re capable of more than we think. This experience has taught me that every step, no matter how small, takes us closer to something greater. Whether it’s achieving personal goals or contributing to a cause we care about, perseverance and heart can get us there. If my journey resonates with you, I’d love your support. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help the RNLI continue their incredible work. Together, we can turn every step of this 17K into meaningful change. Thank you for believing in me and this cause. Let’s keep moving forward, one step at a time.

Running for a Cause: 24 Miles for the RNLI in the Reindeer Run

Tuesday 26th Nov

This December, I’m trading festive comforts for running shoes, icy paths, and a challenge that’s close to my heart. I’ve committed to running 24 miles as part of the Reindeer Run, raising funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). My goal? To cover the distance and raise £1,000 to support the lifesaving work of the RNLI.

Why the RNLI?

The RNLI is an incredible organization that saves lives at sea. Its crews and lifeguards are always on call, braving harsh weather conditions and dangerous waters to rescue people in need. These heroes depend on donations to keep their operations running, and the funds raised through initiatives like the Reindeer Run help ensure they have the training, equipment, and resources they need.

As someone who deeply admires their courage and dedication, I felt inspired to do my part to support their vital mission.

The Challenge

Running 24 miles in December might sound manageable, but with shorter days, cold weather, and festive distractions, it’s no small feat. The symbolism of running a mile for every day leading up to Christmas Eve keeps me motivated. And knowing it’s for such an important cause makes every step feel worthwhile.

To keep the challenge engaging, I’ll be splitting the distance across different terrains—park trails, urban streets, and maybe even a frosty beach run to stay true to the RNLI’s maritime spirit.

My Fundraising Goal

I’ve set a target of £1,000, which could make a real difference:

£100 could provide essential training for a crew member.

£300 could fund a lifeguard’s kit for an entire season.

£1,000 could contribute significantly to the maintenance of lifeboats or vital equipment.

Every pound raised goes directly towards saving lives and supporting the tireless efforts of RNLI volunteers.

How You Can Help

Here’s how you can be part of this journey:

Donate: Every contribution, no matter the size, brings me closer to the goal and helps the RNLI continue their incredible work. You can donate through my fundraising page https://fundraise.rnli.org/fundraisers/sarahgoodger

Share: Spread the word! Share this blog post or my fundraising page with friends and family to help raise awareness.

Cheer Me On: Follow my progress on social media, where I’ll be sharing updates, route snapshots, and milestones along the way.

What This Means to Me

The RNLI’s motto, “Saving Lives at Sea,” is a reminder of their unwavering commitment to helping others. By running 24 miles this December, I hope to honor their dedication and raise the funds they need to continue their lifesaving work.

The challenge may test my stamina, but it pales in comparison to the bravery and sacrifice of RNLI crews who risk everything to keep others safe.

Join Me on This Journey

As the days grow colder, I’ll be lacing up my shoes and hitting the pavement for a cause that truly matters. Together, we can make a difference. Whether you donate, share, or simply cheer me on, your support will fuel every mile and bring us closer to our £1,000 target.

Let’s help the RNLI keep saving lives this Christmas and beyond. Thank you for joining me on this meaningful journey!
