I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Mayday Mile Challenge

Tuesday 13th May

This May, I’ve set myself the challenge of walking 100 miles as part of the RNLI’s Mayday Mile — and no, it’s not because I’ve lost my car keys. I’m doing it to raise vital funds for a cause that’s very close to my heart: saving lives at sea.

As the Press Officer for Peterhead RNLI, I’ve seen first-hand the incredible work our volunteer lifeboat crews do. These are ordinary people with day jobs and families who drop everything — literally everything — when the pager goes off, heading into some of the worst conditions imaginable to help others. No hesitation, no fuss — just action.

The Mayday Mile is all about supporting those crews. Every step I take is a thank-you to the volunteers who head out when the rest of us are told to stay in. They give their time, courage and skill to rescue those in trouble, and they rely on donations to keep going.

If you’d like to sponsor me and support the RNLI’s lifesaving work, I’d be so grateful. Every penny helps keep the crews safe, kitted out, and ready to launch — day or night, sunshine or storms.

Thanks for reading, and wish me (and my knees) luck!
