Taking on the Reindeer Run challenge for RNLI lifesavers

RNLI supporters around the country will be donning their antlers and strapping up their hooves to run 24 miles – all to help keep RNLI volunteers safe this winter.

Freezing seas, numbing winds and sub-zero temperatures – would you fancy launching into that aboard a lifeboat? RNLI crews will be doing just that, battling the elements this winter to continue their mission to save every one.

Reindeer Runners will be raising money so they have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

My Updates

Finally there!

Tuesday 30th Dec
Without a doubt, this Challenge has been far tougher than the MayDay one, despite being half the distance!

The weather had a lot to do with it but also a bit of a blip with my own mental health. I can normally talk myself out of the lows I sometimes struggle with, but not this time. Even my GP recommending "gentle exercise, maybe start with a walk" wasn't cutting it for me.

I joined the RNLI Launch a Memory team for this challenge and decided to ask for their help with some motivation.
One of the team, Julia, kindly donated £10 which saw me reach my fundraising target and other members of the team shared their stories of struggle with the final 2 miles. Knowing it wasn't just me gave me that encouragement I needed, together with not wanting to let myself and the team down.
It will also be the 3rd anniversary of losing Dad on Sunday 4th January so hearing his voice in my head, telling me to get out there and finish the job, was great motivation.

Very proud of myself getting to the finish line.
Thank You everyone for the support with donations and motivation. 🛟❤️⚓

Difficult times

Tuesday 9th Dec
This is so much more difficult, this time of the year, than the May challenge.
It's the weather for me. I just can't get motivated to go out. Really having to push myself. But, that only enforces the why behind this challenge.
The RNLI volunteers go out in all weather so my fundraising should reflect that.
Thanks for reading 🛟❤️⚓

Sunday stroll

Sunday 7th Dec
I made the most of a break in the weather this morning - or so I thought - and got a 2 mile stroll from home in.
Coming back, about half a mile from home the heavens opened and I got drenched!

A hot shower as soon as I got in, followed by a warm drink and a slice of cake.
Thanks once again to everyone who has sponsored me.

Difficult start!

Saturday 6th Dec
The weather every lunchtime this week has been awful here in Somerset.
I've managed to get out and do some short walks but have to admit to adding on some steps above my normal, achieved at work on busy days.
So the 4 miles recorded for Friday are an accumulative for the week.

Thank you to my Sponsors
